Senior Training & Development Specialist

PNI Digital Media is looking for an amazing Senior Training & Development Specialist to join the Vancouver HR team.  Reporting into the HR Manager, this role will support all PNI employees in Vancouver and Austin, working with people from all levels within the organization. 

The main focus will be to partner with HR and Senior Managers to develop training materials to meet the needs of the business, as well as make recommendations to senior management on future training opportunities for PNI.  Lastly this role will partner with the Empower and Engagement Committees enhancing future initiatives.  Our Parent company is Staples so this role will also work directly with the Staples training and development team to bring to PNI all the best programs, which meet the needs of PNI.

Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for all Learning and Development activities within PNI Digital Media

Partnering with local leadership, provide input towards and develop materials for training modules in order to create effective training programs for PNI employees

Work with the Learning and Development team at Staples to review their portfolio of training programs, recommending appropriate training for PNI. This will include programs which will be adapted and brought to PNI Vancouver (this role will be responsible for leading the program and presenting it to PNI) plus on line programs which need to be communicated out to PNI employees

Perform detailed needs analyses and use post-training assessments, focusing on knowledge retention and skills application

Make real time decisions with managers and leaders to adapt actual training delivery and implementation to a variety of situations as needed

Partner with Senior Leadership and Human Resources to ensure complete alignment with all related programs and strategic initiatives

Partner with Human Resources on enhancing Succession Planning for PNI

Work with Senior Leadership and Human Resources to create customized training programs for high potentials and Senior Leadership

Facilitate various technical and soft-skill training sessions

Support Lunch and Learns

Measure, track, analyze and report results of various training programs and initiatives on a quarterly basis

Coordinate all in house training programs including maintaining a class schedule; setting up the training room; coordinating the use of equipment, materials, and speakers; as well as, tracking and reporting training attendance

Knowledge & Experience

8 plus progressive years in a training role with previous demonstrated experience in developing customized training

Previous experience working in technology

Demonstrated ability to write training curriculum in a concise, user-friendly manner that enhances the learners’ retention for the information

Demonstrated multi-tasking and project planning skills are necessary

Proficiency in MS Office. Advanced level skill in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Ability to effectively manage group dynamics

Strong written and oral communication skills

Willingness and ability to travel

Knowledge and understanding of emerging HR and learning practices and trends

A team player with the ability to adapt in a faced paced, rapidly changing environment

A high achieving and collaborative approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations

Previous exposure and experience in Scaling Up, StandOut, Myers Briggs, Marcus Buckingham Strengths Finder an asset

Previous experience in a Human Resources role an asset
