The Spotlight Series: Amy

This week in the spotlight we have Amy, our talented Associate Product Manager. Since joining PNI, Amy has developed her skills in people management, client relationships and softball. With Spotlight, we hope to cast some light on the important part Amy plays at PNI and the different roles available here.

WHAT WAS YOUR CAREER/EDUCATION PATH BEFORE JOINING PNI?

I have a bachelor’s degree in business admin with a major in marketing and a minor in geology… I don’t know, I liked rocks!

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Calgary, AB

HOW HAS PNI HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER/PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT?

I’ve grown the most as a softball player (shout out to PNI’s Dirty Balls slow-pitch team). In addition, my personal skills have noticeably improved since joining PNI. People management—from fostering strong working relationships, to inspiring and motivating teams, to building strong client relationships—is an important skill I’ve picked up at PNI. Not to mention the life-long friends that I’ve met here.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECT OF PNI'S COMPANY CULTURE?

PNI manages to hire the greatest people to work with and puts a huge amount of effort into growing their company culture through parties, sports teams and the occasional spicy noodle challenge. I personally love the summertime softball games with the PNI slow-pitch team.

MOST HILARIOUS OR MEMORABLE PNI MOMENT?

Watching Harper dance at Simon’s energetic opening to PI planning sessions.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST UNUSUAL JOB BEFORE PNI?

I was actually a ride operator at an amusement park for my first job: pushing green and red buttons, checking safety restraints, cleaning vomit. I would literally measure kids that were taller than me to see if they could go on a roller coaster.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE HOBBY OUTSIDE OF WORK?

After spending my early life as a competitive snowboarder, I’ve decided to switch teams and pick up skiing this year. I’m looking forward to getting my avalanche safety certificate so I can start ski touring and exploring the local mountain ranges.

WHAT'S YOUR GO-TO CATCHPHRASE?

Not really a catch phrase, but my signature hand signals involve crossing both arms in front of my face reflecting hard-no (pretty sure there’s an emoji for this) and the classic finger guns of course.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN A 5-6 WORD SLOGAN.

Amy, making awkward moments more awkward since 91.
